Tranquil Comfort in the Heart of Nature

The light-filled, airy living area with floor to ceiling windows has wonderful views across Tokavaig Bay and Dunscaith Castle to the magnificent Cuillin Mountains and the islands of Canna and Rum.

The cottage is welcoming at any time of the year. In sunny weather, throw open the back door and enjoy the views from the private deck. When rain lashes down you can be snug in the cosy sitting room with its wood-burning stove (the firewood is seasoned birch wood from our croft) and comfortable arm chairs, watching the clouds race across the bay.

Leisure

You can choose from a selection of DVDs, or curl up with a book from the library, which includes a selection of fiction and non-fiction titles about Skye and the Highlands, as well as maps and walk guides for when you want explore the spectacular landscapes nearby and further afield. There is also a CD player/radio, iPod/iPhone docking station, and a TV/DVD with free-sat channels.

Kitchen

The kitchen is equipped with electric hob and oven, microwave, dishwasher, fridge with freezer compartment, toaster and kettle, as well as tea-towels, sponges, crockery, cutlery, pots and all the cooking implements you will need.

There is a washer-dryer machine and a folding clothes drier.

Bedroom

The bedroom has a comfortable, medium-firm, super-king bed 180 cm wide and 200 cm long (6 foot wide, 6 foot 6 inches long) which can be converted to two single beds if required. We can provide separate single duvets or one super-king duvet, according to your preference. The bed linen and towels (bath towel, hand towel and face cloth) are pure Egyptian or organic cotton.

Bathroom

The bathroom features a large bath with shower, heated towel rail and non-slip ceramic floor tiles with under-floor heating.

WiFi

There is an EE mobile phone signal (4G contract phones); otherwise the nearest signal is 3 miles away. The cottage has wi-fi (slow download speed, but enough for emailing and surfing the internet) and a landline telephone.

Heating

The cottage is heated with electric radiators with heat on demand (not night storage) and the wood-burning stove provides extra ambiance. The building is designed to modern ecological standards (EPC band C); it is well insulated and stays nice and warm when you need it. Underfloor heating keeps the bathroom toasty, and hot water is provided via an immersion heater and solar thermal panels.

Parking

There is a dedicated flat parking space next to the cottage. The cottage has its own electric vehicle charger for guests’ use (7 kW, AC, with tethered type 2 (Mennekes) connection – suitable for overnight charging). The cottage has a sloping ramp access and is accessible for wheelchair users.

Utilities

The water supply is from a sealed private borehole that collects water from 35 m down as it percolates through the rock. The water is filtered, sterilised and pH-regulated and is tested annually to ensure it meets government Environmental Health standards.
